Battle Won!
This is Stute, a middle aged shih-zuh with his brother Murphy, (Stute pictured on the right and Murphy on the left) after a battle that changed their whole family. On an average day at Lake Hamilton Animal Hospital, the doctors and staff were not suprised to see Stute, as he had wonderful parents that kept up with his vaccinations and health. But, this day quickly turned for the worst as it seemed. “It was a shock that one day your pet is seemingly healthy and then… that dreaded word - Cancer…“ Exclaims Stute’s owner, Mrs. Roddenberry.
Stute was diagnosed with lymphoma. This is often fatal to both people and animals as it is a fast growing cancer that can grow anywhere in the body where there is lymph tissue, which is virtually every organ in the body. If left untreated the cancer infiltrates an organ or organs to such an extent that the organ eventually fails. But Mrs. Roddenberry takes but only a moment to let us know that she wanted us to treat Stute immediately.
Many of the treatments were difficult on him and he lost the majority of his blond hairs, but with love and constant attention from his family at home and LHAH, he stood a trooper. Daily medications, supplements, and frequent visits to the clinic filled his days for several months and seemed endless according to his family. Even Murphy’s jelousy towards Stute soon turned to concern as he watched his brother fight for his life. After is last chemo treatment was over, the Roddenbury family waited anxiously for the test results to come back. Finally, the results they were waiting for were in… and they were GREAT!
The further away from treatment he got the stronger and more energetic he got as well. His hair grew back and it was a thicker more rich color than it had ever been before. He is now able to continue his life just as he did before and Stute is in complete remission.
“We just want to express our sincere thanks to Dr. Brian and his staff at Lake Hamilton Animal Hospital, who were there for us every step of the way. Their knowledge and compassion helped us to a positive outcome for our sweet little trooper!” -Mrs. Roddenberry and Family
” He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog.
You are his leader, his teacher, his love, his life.
He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart.
You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.” -Author Unknown
